Christ-Centredness
We
acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the head of our church, and submit
ourselves to a life of faith and obedience under Christ’s saving Lordship.
“. . faith working through love.” Galatians
5:6
(Ephesians
1:22-23, 2:8-10)
The Bible
We believe in the integrity and authority of the Bible as the written
word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is our guidebook for daily living.
We seek to understand and apply its truths in a way that ministers grace
and urges obedience.
(2 Timothy 3:16; James 1:23-25)
Prayer
We believe that God hears and answers our personal as well
as corporate praise and requests for healing, help and guidance.
Therefore we believe that prayer is foundational and so undergirds all of
our ministries and activities.
(Matthew
7:7-11; James 5:13-18)
An Outward Focus
Responding
to the saving grace of God we seek to honour Christ’s call, and to spread
the good news about what he has done for us by sharing this truth with
people who do not know him. As part of this response we are committed to
meeting the physical and emotional needs of people in our local community
and beyond.
(Matthew 28:19-20; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Luke 4:17-19; James 1:27)
Unconditional Love,
Diversity and Inclusiveness
In response to God's unconditional love towards us we
care for others, showing love, acceptance and forgiveness; and we endeavour to be open, accessible
and approachable, embracing all
who are seeking God.
(John 13:34-35; Matthew 5:44; Colossians 3:12-14; 1
Corinthians 9:19-23)
Worshipping God
Worship is a lifestyle that acknowledges God's
supremacy in our personal lives as well as in our gatherings as a
community of faith. Corporately we seek to be relevant and authentic,
worshipping in spirit and in truth.
(Romans 12:1-2; Psalm 100:1-5; John 4:23-24)
Christian Community and
Ministering to One Another
We believe that this is the best place for people to grow in their faith,
to exercise their gifts, to worship, to be cared for and to care for
others.
We seek to serve by being generous stewards of our
gifts, time and money, and we seek to discover and use the Spiritual Gifts
that God has entrusted to us to encourage and build up each other for the
benefit of our community.
(Acts 2: 44-47; Ephesians 4:29-32; Hebrews 10:24-25)
Biblical Leadership
We seek to be empowered by the Holy Spirit and enabled by
the leaders of our community of faith as we participate in ministry. We embrace a leadership that is forward thinking,
creative, and flexible, who through sound planning develop effective strategies which they clearly communicate to the people that they lead.
(Acts 6:2-5; Ephesians 4:11-13)
